The Certified Business Analysis Professional TM (CBAP®) designation is a professional certification for individuals with extensive business analysis experience. With at least 7500 hours of hands-on BA experience, CBAP® recipients are the elite, senior members of the BA community.

Who can attend?

To earn the CBAP® certification, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Minimum 7500 hours of BA work experience aligned with BABOK® Guide in the last 10 years

• Minimum 900 hours in four of the six knowledge areas

• Minimum 35 hours of Professional Development in the past four years

• Two references from a career manager, client or Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP®) recipient

• Signed Code of Conduct

How much time is needed to complete the application process and prepare for the exam once approved?

It really depends on the individual however, some feedback we’ve received includes:

• Rely on your work experience to get you through it…you can’t simply memorize definitions, content, or A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® Guide. You have to partner with the BABOK® Guide with your practical application/ knowledge to be successful.

• The qualifications to take the test are not just ceremonial; they are in fact pre-requisites to passing the test.

• Use the application process as the first stage in studying, and acknowledge that translating your experience based on the BABOK® Guide is a reflective process that can take time.

• Attend training courses by IIBA Endorsed Education Providers (EEP) in those areas you feel that additional knowledge would help benefit your study efforts.

• Use online resources.

• Use practice exams online as this simulates the environment in which you’ll be tested.

• Use CBAP® Study Prep books, which are widely available.

• Discuss chapters with study partners when studying. Use plenty of examples to provide a context where needed.

• Take your time filling in the application and use it as part of your studying.

• Allow three to four months for studying, at least eight hours per week split between reading the BABOK® Guide and other support information and completing practice tests. Everyone’s study habits are different, but this is a suggested minimum in combination with other work and home life commitments.

• Attend events hosted by the IIBA chapter in your area. This may not always be possible, but it may be very helpful with study preparation.

• Participate in study groups. Study groups can help with your understanding by leveraging everyone’s experience to provide context. This will ensure a more thorough understanding, rather than trying to memorize information.

• Know your job well: the practical application of the BABOK® Guide information is a great asset.
Note: IIBA does not, in any way, represent that completing the above guarantees success at passing a certification exam.

Are there any possible substitutions to the application requirements?
No, you must meet all of the requirements as outlined in the CCBA® Handbook (as applicable) to be eligible to write the respective exam.

Will IIBA be a very severe verifying experience?
Exam candidates and designation recipients may be audited to verify/validate work experience and other information provided in the application.

What are the criteria used to validate experience?
Work experience must be related to business analysis, performing tasks as per A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® Guide). See the CCBA® Handbook for complete guidelines.

My work experience includes tasks other than those meeting the certification requirements. Should I include all my experience from the present back to my first business analysis (BA) experiences within the last 7 (for CCBA®)
As per the instructions in the application, only business analysis specific work experience aligned with the BABOK® Guide is considered. Documenting more hours than the minimum required is recommended. In addition, gaps in work experience years are not considered as long as the requirement is met. Overlaps in work experience and/or extra hours are reviewed to ensure the number of hours is appropriately documented and feasible.

What qualifies for the 35 hours of required training in the past four years?
All IIBA endorsed courses qualify for the Professional Development requirement. Other courses may qualify as long as they meet the professional development criteria specified in the handbooks.

Key Learning Objectives:

1. Pass the IIBA-CBAP exam on your 1st attempt

2. Understand the key concepts of business analysis

3. Understand the business analysis core concept model

4. Understand Requirement Classification Schema

5. Understand all 30 business analysis tasks in six knowledge areas

When it comes to anything related to Project/Program Management there are loads of commentators that talk a lot, but Addon Skills help you make it happen in reality. They have enabled me, coached me and given me the confidence to step into PgMP after completion of my PMP Certification. The course material covered a lot of information, delivered in concise chunks that were easy to absorb. The structure was clear, logical and effective. Kailash has obviously put a lot of thought and expertise into designing it.

I got my PgMP training from Addonskills and cleared the exam in first attempt. What I liked about Addonskill is that trainer provides the honest feedback which helps candidate to know their strength and area of improvement. Addonskill trainer was always very approachable and continuously helped me after the training was completed .Quality of Addonskills material is very good and as a result of it I finished my exam in 2.5 hrs only .
